Tomoko Iguchi
Tomoko Iguchi was born in Tokyo, Japan. At the age of seven, Tomoko began taking violin lessons from Yuriko Kuronuma in Mexico City while her family lived there. After her family returned to Japan, she studied at Toho High School of Music and Toho School of Music in Tokyo as student of Shizuko Ishii, and earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin performance.
Before moving to Kansas City, she was a member of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. During her time in the New World Symphony, she toured the United States, Monaco, Israel, Brazil, and Argentina.
She has been a member of the Kansas City Symphony since 1995. She has participated in the Evian Music Festival, Pablo Casals Music Festival, Ojai Music Festival, Music at Penn’s Woods, Colorado Music Festival, and she has been member of the Grand Teton Music Festival in Wyoming since 2002. She has performed with the newEar Contemporary Chamber Ensemble in Kansas City, and with Solistas Mexico Japon, a chamber orchestra based in Mexico City. In addition to performing with Kansas City Symphony, she performs solo recitals, chamber music and maintains a private teaching studio.
She has five birds (two conures and three cockatiels) who enjoy vocalizing with music!
