Two stories of love in secret surround the most genial of all Beethoven symphonies and an exciting world premiere to be performed by the eminent Swiss flutist Emmanuel Pahud. Rossini's comic opera overture encapsulates the tale of a secret wedding where all turns out right in the end. Tchaikovsky's most masterful tone poem explores the tumultuous and ultimately tragic love of Francesca da Rimini and her secret lover, Paolo. The commission is underwritten by the Miller Nichols Charitable Foundation.
