Jinyou Lee

Jinyou Lee has performed as a recitalist, soloist, and chamber musician throughout Korea, North America, and Europe. She made her first solo appearance with orchestra at age 12 with the Romanian National Radio Chamber Orchestra in Seoul, Korea. After moving to Canada at age 15, she continued her musical studies with violinist Robert Rozek, a former student of Nathan Milstein.

Lee has participated in masterclasses with world-renowned violinists such as Ivry Gitlis, Shlomo Mintz, Pavel Vernikov, and Takashi Shimizu. She also attended international music festivals including Tibor Varga’s class at Internationale Sommerakademie Universitat Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, Astona International Summer Music Academy in Switzerland, and Round Top Festival Institute in Texas, where she served as concertmaster.

Lee earned her Bachelor’s degree from Haute École de Musique de Lausanne in Switzerland, where she studied with Gyula Stuller and Master’s and Master of Musical Arts’ degrees from Yale School of Music with Syoko Aki. She joins the Kansas City Symphony in September 2023 and is currently a DMA candidate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she was a student of Stefan Milenkovich.

In her spare time, Jinyou enjoys hiking and watching baseball games with her husband Roy.
